Environmental history emerged as a new historiography in the 1960s,and came to China three decades later.Since the 1990s,it has witnessed a spectacular growth,and now is recognized as one of the mainstays of historiography in China.Gao Guorong,a researcher of Institute of World History,Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,helps pioneer environmental history in China.
