1999年5月,是一个不寻常的初夏。本世纪中国政府举办的最后一次国际性大型活动——’99昆明世界园艺博览会隆重开幕！我们党第三代领导集体的核心、共和国的元首江泽民同志亲莅云南主持世纪盛会的开幕式,世界许多国家的领导人光临昆明,五洲四海的朋友们汇集在这里。昆明成为花的海洋,友谊的海洋;云南,成为全国人民关注的热点,世界人民心神向往的地方。
May 1999, is an unusual early summer. This century, the Chinese government held the last major international event - ’99 Kunming World Horticultural Exposition grand opening! The heart of the third generation of the leading collective of our party, Comrade Jiang Zemin, head of the republic, went to Yunnan to host the opening ceremony of the Century Grand Prix. Leaders from many countries in the world came to Kunming and friends from all continents gathered here. Kunming has become a sea of flowers and a sea of friendship. Yunnan has become a hot spot of concern to all people in the country and a place where the people of the world yearn for peace.
