New Orleans, United States: Researchers in Finland have come up with a new theory to explain why Finns have the highest incidence of insulin-dependent diabetes in the world. At this meeting of the American Diabetes Association, Finnish researchers reported for the first time findings of Finnish national studies on the genetics, immunology and epidemiology of diabetes. The study found that Finns and HLA antigen-binding genes higher frequency, thus making him more susceptible to diabetes. Earlier studies in the United States have identified other genetic markers. Researchers studied newly diagnosed Finnish families with diabetes under 15 years of age. 170 such families and 148 British
