Mention of “giant panda expert” and “professor of white-headed langur”, people immediately think of the name of “Pan Wen-shih,” a professor of zoology at Peking University, renowned for his outstanding achievements in studying giant panda and white-headed langur Chinese and foreign. In order to gain a deeper understanding of Professor Pan’s research and training of graduate students, the author interviewed him and his graduate students in Peking University’s Biodiversity Research Base (hereinafter referred to as “Base”) in Chongzuo City, Guangxi Province in mid-August. The base is located in Chongzuo Ecological Park and was jointly funded by Peking University and Chongzuo County (to withdraw from the city in August 2003) and was built on the abandoned barracks. The base is surrounded by lush Aoyama, a school of natural beauty, Poon Man
