I. Outline of Hong Kong Garment Exports As we all know, Hong Kong is an important base for the processing and trade of textiles and garments in the world. Garment export is a pillar industry in Hong Kong and earns a lot of foreign exchange for Hong Kong every year. From 1973 to 1985, Hong Kong’s clothing exports accounted for the first place in the world (except for 1978-1979, Italy exceeded Hong Kong). In 1992, China replaced Hong Kong as the world’s largest garment exporter. Hong Kong garment exports have always been the main target of the United States and Europe. Hong Kong, as the largest clothing supplier in the United States, was replaced by Mainland China in 1992. Turkey has become a major European apparel supplier.
