Inconel 600 (Alloy No 6600) is a solution-strengthened nickel-based alloy. It is used as a recording tape for an aircraft flight recorder because of its excellent durability and its ease of cold-rolling into foil strips for smooth winding or unwinding. An additional feature of this alloy foil is its corrosion resistance and easy punching process. The Inconel 600 alloy was processed into foil strips and Uibrich Stainless Steel and North Haven Specialty Metals Company used a precision mill for the reduction of the alloy strip with initial width of 292 mm (11.5 inches) and thickness of 0.889-1.727 mm (0.035-0.07 inch) 4 to 5 pass rolling into
