Purpose: To explore the developmental profile of adolescent obesity related to gender, race and socioeconomic status. Design: A 5-year longitudinal cohort study of student samples aged 11-12 years at baseline for different ethnic and socio-economic conditions. Institution: 36 schools in London incorporated in 1991 by stratified random sampling.
