当前的水墨人物画创作,在进行全方位、多角度、深层次的探索,呈现出了多元化发展的态势,但总体说来,水墨人物画创作,还缺乏来自生活一线劳动者的心声和时代人物的精神风貌。同时,由于对西画艺术法则的狂热追求,而忽略了民族传统的精神内涵,远离了对水墨人物画的本体语言的研究和探索。黄胄作为对中国画特别是中国人物画的复兴有着深刻的思考和睿智的远见并身体力行的实践者,他对中国人物画在画史上的传承与开拓,为中国画坛留下的宝贵的创作经验,在今天仍然具有强烈的现实意义。

However, on the whole, the creation of ink-and-wash portraits still lacks the voice and the times from the frontline workers People’s mental outlook.
