The authors reported 60 cases of appendicular vertebral chordomas, aged 26 to 84 years, with an average age of 55 years, and 1.6 vs. men and women. The most common symptoms were pain in the lower back, sacral or caudal vertebrae, which accounted for 71%; neurological symptoms were 23%; constipation was 19%; lumbosacral masses accounted for 13%. Symptoms lasted from January to 5 years, with an average of 1 year. The author found that bone destruction accounted for 78% of the 39 plain films in 22 cases.
