绘画创作不是为了图解历史,历史画也不是信马由缰的自由创作。历史学家也是在各种史料中不断对证,试图寻找历史的真相,绝不会放纵自己的想象。历史学家要对某一事件进行陈述,就必须拼接那些片段,而所借助的工具,则是被称之为逻辑的那套思维方式。历史学家在事件的时间与空间关系上,可以依据事实或文献加以证实,唯独语境,能让那些故去的事实“活”过来,让一堆片段性的东两,在意义上相互关联,成为能发声的一段历史,这就需要想象去触动历史学家。对于一位历史画作者,他的想象空间也在这么一条缝隙,也就存有这么一线光明。
