Histological and functional disturbances of vestibular systems in experimental animals exposed to high levels of noise have been reported. The current study aims to assess the vestibular function of a group of subjects who have recorded noise-induced hearing loss (NIH1). Methods Twenty-two subjects with NIHL and 21 healthy controls were examined using the electronic nystagmus (ENG) and smooth muscle resonance acceleration (SHA) tests. RESULTS: Lower vestibular visual reflexes (P = 0.05) and less thermal responses were found in the study group.
