过去,我们在解释磁异常时,都假定矿体的走向为无限长,即所谓二度体.而实际的矿体都是有限长.因此,在解释异常时,经常碰到的困难是:一、用选择法作定量推断时,异常的负值部分总是符合不好;二、有时磁异常的走向并不与矿体的走向一致;三、有的地方,推断的矿体比实际的矿体小得多,特别是在磁异常的端点附近.实践及初步研究表明,这些困难主要是由于用二度体磁异常的规律来解释三度体磁异常所引起.
