20世纪初,生活在法国的画家、艺术家和音乐家发起一场运动,从全新角度审视美与生活观念,尽管互有差异,但他们均强调独出机杼的抽象形式。现代传统于1913年登陆纽约,现身于军械库展览会,其影响持续了整个世纪,受其启发,华莱士·史蒂文斯将其调整转换,用于表达其美国声音,创造出一种新的抽象诗歌形式,处理快速转换主题,并表达变动不居的社会现实。
At the beginning of the 20th century, painters, artists and musicians living in France launched a campaign to look at the concepts of beauty and life from a new perspective. Although different from each other, they all emphasized the abstract form of exclusivity. Inspired by the modern tradition that landed in New York in 1913 at the Armory Show, the influence of that tradition inspired Wallace Stevens to transform it to express its American voice and to create a New forms of abstract poetry, dealing with the theme of rapid change and expressing the changing social reality.
