在我国的一些油田中,粘油开采是相当突出的问题。粘油开采中伴随着的出砂、合气现象使油井工作条件更加复杂。目前,粘油开采的主要方法是抽油法。采用有杆抽油设备在这种情况下遇到不少困难。电动潜油离心泵输送粘油的效率过低。水力活塞泵的应用在一定程度上解决了粘油开采问题,但是在粘度不断增高(有时达几千厘泊)以及合砂、合气量变多的条件下,水力活塞泵的效率和寿命不可避免地要显著降低,动力液的来源和一些油田的具体条件使后者的推广也受到一些限制。
