被告人彼德·吴(Peter H.Wu),又名吴弘达,曾用名哈利·吴(Harry Wu),男,现年58岁,原籍中国江苏省无锡市,现国籍美利坚合众国,住加利福尼亚州密尔必达市。1960年4月曾因盗窃,在北京被劳动教养3年。被告人彼德·吴为境外机构、组织窃取、刺探、收买、非法提供国家秘密,冒充国家工作人员招摇撞骗一案,由武汉市公安局立案侦查。侦查终结后移送武汉市检察院审查起诉。1995年8月12日武汉市人民检察院向武汉市中级人民法院提起公诉。起诉书认定被告人犯罪事实如下:
Defendant Peter H. Wu, also known as Wu Hongda, once named Harry Wu, male, aged 58, originates from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, is a citizen of the United States of America, lives in California Milpitas In April 1960, he was reeducated by labor for three years in Beijing for theft. Defendant Peter Wu organized and steal, intimidated, bought and illegally provided state secrets to overseas institutions, pretending to be swaggering and defrauding cases by state staff, and filing investigations by the Wuhan Public Security Bureau. After the investigation, the case was transferred to Wuhan Procuratorate for examination and prosecution. On August 12, 1995, Wuhan Municipal People’s Procuratorate filed a public prosecution in Wuhan Intermediate People’s Court. The indictment found the defendant guilty of the crime as follows:
