日本古河电工公司和东京女子医科大学共同试制成功观察小血管内部患处并用激光治疗的极细口径石英光纤显示器。这种光纤显示器与胃内窥镜一样，是可插入心脏冠状动脉之类小血管内的器械，它把观察患处的图象波导（图象传送光纤）和传输激光的光纤(激光波导)构成一个整体，而且口径极细。
