Objective To observe the clinical effect of ganciclovir (GCV) in the treatment of infantile cytomegalovirus (CMV) hepatitis. Methods Twenty-five children with CMV hepatitis were selected as the observation group for GCV treatment, supplemented by the combination of reduced glutathione and other comprehensive treatment; the other 20 cases of control group of CMV hepatitis only given comprehensive treatment. The clinical effects and adverse reactions of the two groups were observed. Results The negative conversion rate of CMV-IgM in the observation group was 80.0%. The reduction of transaminase, hepatic retraction and jaundice in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). Leukopenia and thrombocytopenia in the observation group decreased, and the percentage of elevated aminotransferases was 14.3%, 5.7% and 12.0% respectively, with no other adverse reactions. Conclusion GCV treatment of CMV hepatitis has good curative effect and no obvious side effects. No other side effects have been found recently.
