近年来,应用赤眼蜂防治玉米螟工作取得了较好的效果。但由于赤眼蜂种类较多,种下还有不同生态型,它们对寄主和生境各有不同的选择和偏好。据报导,南京玉米螟卵中有5种赤眼蜂,其对寄主的喜好及对玉米螟的寄生率是不同的(钱永庆等1964)。Voegele等(1975)曾比较了12种赤眼蜂和广赤眼蜂的9个型防治玉米螟的效果,发现在不同地区其效果是不同的。这些事实和国内外的其它报导都充分证明,在应用赤眼蜂治虫工作中,种或种型的选择是十分重要的。如果选择不对路,治虫效果倍受影响,甚至有遭致失败的危险。
