Carson McCullers, author of The Song of Sad Cafe, is a Southern American woman writer. The early comments on this work begin with the theme of the novel and analyze the heroine’s spiritual isolation and the lonely theme of love. With the development of feminism and feminist criticism, many feminist critics began to analyze the highlighting of the male character of the heroine and the loss of femininity from the perspective of women, revealing the author’s positive significance in shaping gender. But some critics view Amelia as a brave warrior against patriarchy. The tragedy of her life as a struggle to get rid of the shackles of men’s history of struggle. But the author is skeptical of this view. This topic also interprets the heroine Amelia from the perspective of feminism, but tries to find some clues about her identity. The dissertation elaborates in three aspects: one is the reason of Ameriya’s dislocation; the other is the coexistence period of Amelie’s male consciousness and female’s identity; . Amelia’s masculine consciousness has gone through four stages at the same time: formation, strengthening, chaos, and destruction. This is also the point to be clarified in this paper. Therefore, the heroine can not be regarded as a warrior who actively opposes the patriarchal system. She is a deformed woman and a victim of a society caused by special circumstances.
