瓷器画面上的八仙主要是指民间流传已久的八位神仙:锺离(权)、吕洞宾、张果(老)、曹国舅、(李)铁拐、韩湘(子)、蓝采和、何仙姑(图一)。这八位神仙形像在中国文学史上曾有反映,但作为瓷器的纹样,陶瓷界很少展开详尽的讨论。最近笔者根据馆藏八仙图瓷器,并结合有关文献,对瓷器八仙图进行了综合研究,发现这一纹样的产生与发展不仅同道 The Eight Immortals on the Porcelain Screen mainly refer to the eight immortals long circulating in the folk world: Zhong Li, Lü Dongbin, Zhang Guo, Lao Cao, Uncle Cao, Li Tiegui, Han Xiang (son) , He Xiangu (Figure I).
