In 1892, the Belgian chemist Swarts first discovered that the fluoride of antimony can be used to displace other halogens in organic molecules, thus laying the foundation for organofluorine chemistry. This method was further developed by Midgley and Henne in 1930, successfully synthesizing odorless, non-toxic, non-flammable Freons. As cryogens, they have extremely desirable physical, chemical and physiological properties. Organofluorine compounds thus entered the mass production technology phase, followed by many chemists such as Henne summed up the results in this area.
