番茄是一种富于营养的蔬菜,解放后,在武漢郊区才开始發展栽培,由于栽培的經驗不久,在1951年前,產量一般停滯在5000斤左右,華中農学院蔬菜教研組为了使郊区的番茄能提早成熱和提高產量,以滿足城市人民的要求,曾進行育苗問題和栽培技術的研究,为郊区番茄栽培的發展,提供了技術的帮助,近年來郊区番茄的產量有着相应的提高,一般每畝为8000斤左右,个别合作社已达10000斤以上,成熟期一般也提早10至15天,我們为了使郊区的番茄產量不断的提高,在栽培技術上,曾進一步加以研究,1956年上季在本院教学实習農場二畝三分的面積,达到28,578,75斤的收獲量,每畝平均產量为12425.54斤,为武漢地区獲得早熟高產穩產,更創造了条件,茲將農業技術要点述如下:
