作为科学基金管理中的一个重要环节──期后管理，主要是适时地区馈信息，使管理者能及时调整决策。这既符合现代管理理论中的反馈原则，又是马克思主义基本原理在现代科学管理中的贯彻和体现。因此，国家自然科学基金委员会早在成立之时，就已将期后管理作为一项重要的内容。
