This is a very cost-effective technique to control the permissible limits of pearlite ductile iron defects. Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM) has created a new approach to design basis that affects crack-like defects in alloys. This method is particularly correct for the maximum size of a type of security defect that can be tolerated for a given geometry and applied stress.
