China and Britain have close economic and trade relations with Africa. Due to political history and geographical reasons, the economic and trade exchanges between Britain and Africa (especially Commonwealth Africa) have been longer and more historic than those in China and Africa. However, with the rapid growth of China’s production capacity in recent years, China-Africa trade has developed rapidly and has surpassed the trade with Britain and Africa since 2004. In terms of investment, Britain has enjoyed a long-term investment in Africa with its private sector and official supplements, and continues to grow under the encouragement and promotion policies of the British government. China has invested heavily in state-owned enterprises in Africa in the past decade However, the total investment is still far below that of the United Kingdom. Due to its experience and capability in investment management and other aspects, the biggest difference between China and the United Kingdom in contracting projects in Africa is that British companies are mostly private-owned capital while China Most companies are state-owned enterprises. Judging from the future development trend, China and Britain have the potential to develop their economic and trade relations with Africa and there is also the potential for cooperation.
