The German submarine was one of the most frightening weapons of the Second World War (1939-1945). Submarine hidden in the water, can quietly sneak into the enemy waters. When they are close enough to the target, they submerge and the submarine commander through the periscope (a special telescope out of the water) can strike the target without having to surface it. When the target is in front of the submarine, the submarine launches a torpedo - a slender body of electric motor-driven bombs. When the torpedo hit the target vessel, a hole explodes in the hull, causing the vessel to quickly sink. German submarines and crew won the war for almost Germany. However, the United States and Britain found new ways of reconnaissance and destroying the submarines. By 1943, many submarines in Germany were sank by Britain and France.
