National Semiconductor will develop optical fibers for a variety of flight operations and is ready to be installed on Boeing aircraft. United Airlines intends to conduct its first commercial flight to provide these services in 1995. The heart of the system is a high-speed fiber optic network chipset developed by National Semiconductor, called MACSI and PLAYER_ +. This dual chipset operates at 100Mb / s, accommodating software applications in a variety of ways and delivering images such as video and movies. National Semiconductor asserted that the cost of such a chipset will drop significantly, so it is also possible to apply Fiber Distributed Data Interface to homes and offices.
