The Honghua Hydropower Project is the most downstream step in the Liujiang River mainstream planning in Guangxi. The existing first-line ship lock capacity is only 6.63 million tons per year, which has reached the saturation state and becomes the bottleneck of Liujiang Shipping. The proposed second-line lock is arranged on the left side of the existing first-line lock of the Honghua Hydraulic Complex and is constructed on a scale of 2 000 t (taking into account the navigation of 3 000 t class and Ⅱ lock). The designed one-way passing capacity is 28.6 million t per year. After the second-line lock is completed and put into use, it can effectively solve the problem of insufficient capacity of first-line lock and improve the traffic conditions of Liuzhou waterway.
