棉酚是对雄性具有抗生育效应的药物,早在三十年前我国就曾报道食用棉油导致不育,后来发现其有效成份为棉酚,并作为男性避孕药试用于临床。有关棉酚的抗生育作用机理已引起重视,并证实棉酚能破坏精子的结构,抑制精子的活动。值得注意的是棉酚存在着一定的毒副作用,据报道极少数个体在长期服用棉酚后,会出现低血钾肌无力症,其产生的原因尚未查明,据推测可能是Na,K-ATP酶受到抑制所致。毕晓峰等观测到棉酚对大鼠、豚鼠等肾皮质的Na,K-ATP酶有抑制作用,但符云峰等在家兔及大鼠肾皮质材料的实验中所得结果是棉酚对Mg-ATP酶有抑制作用,对Na,K-ATP酶无明显影响。因此,棉酚产生低钾的原因有待进一步澄清。
