After the merger of Britain and the Soviet Union in 1707, the independent Kingdom of Scotland ceased to exist and the Scottish nation needed to redefine and construct itself within the framework of a new British. Spyder’s Landen biography strongly exemplifies London’s corruption and depravity, thereby emotionally negating England’s centrality and attempting to re-establish itself in a larger space of vision with Scottish experience of enriching overseas colonies Define Soviet-British relations. However, although the novel portrays Blueun’s prejudice and discrimination in England, it continues the tradition of describing Irish “stigma” in the English tradition. This double “alienation ” writing strategy can shift the target of resentment and temporarily relieve the anxiety of self-identity, but it exposes the innate internal divisions of the British Empire. The novel’s description of the Caribbean shows that it is the tremendous interests shared by the two nations in the colonial expansion that have soothed and covered the national contradictions between the two and promoted Scotland’s final approval of the British Empire.
