Analytical solutions, numerical calculations, and experimental studies all agree with one conclusion: oscillation of the fluid in the tube can greatly enhance its axial heat transfer. This article shows that the fundamental reason for this enhanced heat transfer is the result of a sudden increase in the heat transfer area and the temperature gradient due to fluid oscillations.
