The introduction of stealth technology (low observability techniques) by bombers, fighter planes and cruise missiles in the United States and the Soviet Union will have a significant impact on the future of airborne avionic systems and technologies and tactics. For example, the more emphasis will be placed on the use of passive infrared or millimeter-wave radiation-based sensors and discrete “look-and-remember” radars so that their emissions do not compromise the benefits of stealth technology. Air-to-air combat between two fighter planes using stealth technology may turn out to be like a Pentagon
