以龙芽楤木2年实生根为材料,营造药用人工林,采用秋季平茬春季培育萌条的方式进行生产管理。连续5a对造林地的龙芽楤木植株根系及根皮产量进行调查分析,其结果表明:龙芽楤木根系在根龄3~6a生长旺盛,根龄7a时其延长生长停止,加粗生长迅速,根皮老化明显。根龄为3~5a时可剥取的根皮部分比例较高,随后下降。根龄4a时可取皮根段的出皮率及单株出皮率最高,随后下降。其单株根皮总产量和年平均产量在根龄6a时达到最大值,之后开始下降。在不考虑药用品质的前提下,龙芽楤木药用林以根龄6a为生产周期较为适宜。
