In the early 1980s, people started to get acquainted with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), and shortly thereafter they found the virus that caused the disease in the body’s secretions, including blood and saliva. In early 1993, the harmful effects of AIDS were widely recognized in the first responders who volunteered for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. An unidentified nurse survey showed that 93% of people are hesitant to treat mouth-to-mouth resuscitation of AIDS patients.
