The number of Chinese New Year pictures in Russian museums and private collections is more than anywhere else in China, a thought-provoking one. The proximity of the region and the prosperity of the border trade at Chkotu have caused the spread of Chinese artworks, including New Year pictures, to some small cities in Russia on the European continent1 but this does not seem to be the only major reason for this rare phenomenon.
