As the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) prepares for a new generation of DIRCM tests, it also embarks on a recent project to improve missile warning systems on C-130 aircraft. Under the $ 10.4 million contract, Cincinnati’s Electronic Equipment Infrared Systems Division will deliver improved software to approximately 170 AFSOC AAR-44 missile attack warning systems. One hundred of the 100 aircraft already equipped with the C-130, such as the AC-130 Spectre Gunship, the MC-130 Combat Talons and the EC-130E Commando Solo Psychosocial aircraft. As a system improvement improvement (SIM), the company will reduce the false alarm rate of searching infrared systems through software and improved signal processing.
