1. Infrared Beacons Unless you limit your robot to activities in the lab only, you should use some method to identify adjacent rooms in your home. Infrared beacons are even more important if your robot design has preliminary maps of objects and area shapes. These maps can be stored in the robot’s memory to manipulate the robot to bypass objects and avoid walls. In less than a week’s time, you can construct an infrared beacon system for the robot so that the robot can use it to determine when it has traveled from room to room. Install robots with a receiver and transmitters in each room. Each sender sends a special code to the robot
