Hepatocyte nuclear factor (HNF) is a type of transcription factor that regulates liver gene-specific expression, including HNF1, HNF3, HNF4 and HNF6. These transcription factors interact to form a complex regulatory network. HNF in many important human organs such as liver, pancreas, intestine, kidney, etc. have different degrees of expression. The study found that in a variety of diseases, there are mutations in genes encoding these factors, suggesting that HNF and maintain and regulate the body’s normal physiological functions are inseparable. This article aims to systematically review the research progress of HNF and provide new ideas for studying the mechanism of HNF related diseases and making effective intervention.
