1981年12月第五届全国人民代表大会第四次会议通过《关于开展全民义务植树运动的决议》后,五年来我区各地认真贯彻了《决议》精神,动员广大干部和各族群众,广泛深入地开展了全民义务植树运动,取得了显著成绩。在城市绿化方面,自治区首府呼和浩特市为争取在两三年内达到全国同类城市的绿化水平,以迎接自治区成立四十周年,1985年冬季在市区移栽针叶树19万多株,去年冬季又超计划28％完成了移栽任务。他们还开展了绿化知识有奖竞赛、花展和评选市树市花等活动。包头市五年来共植树96万株,造林1900亩,目前全市已有各种树木845万株,比
