Researchers at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia have developed a new rapid test kit for direct detection of residual insecticides at catchments in Australia. A hand-held portable instrument developed by Dr. David Beal to detect the presence of pesticides commonly used in water is part of his applied science research at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. This method he developed uses chemiluminescence to rapidly detect large volumes of water - a highly sensitive technique that can detect trace amounts of organic compounds. ”When the amount of stored water decreases, the applied pesticide concentration increases
