Lake Baikal in the Far East of the Soviet Union is the deepest and longest lake in the world. From the plane overlooking the great lake, blue and blue, like the boundless sea. The mountains around the lake, covered with virgin forest, giving a deep, mysterious feeling. We took a large sedan from Irkutsk, followed the winding mountain road to the scenic spot in the southern part of Baikal, and passed many villages along the way. All the houses were made of Russia’s “Mu Kelun” or wooden houses. Light green, beige or white. Pear house opened behind the front of the house, each courtyard are fenced, like an elegant Western painting. This is the Saturday morning, the Soviet Union working five days a week, many families drove their own cars, high-spirited to the lake villa vacation.
