Turbulence properties of a wall-bounded turbulent mixing layer associated with an opening step were extensively measured using I- and X-type hotwires. The turbulent mixing layer flow was analyzed in terms of wall static pressure distribution, turbulence intensity, Reynolds stress, streamwise velocity profile and continuous wavelet transform coefficients.Development of vortical structures embedded in the turbulent mixing layer was temporally and spatially resolved by using continuous wavelet transform. The constraint of the downstream solid wall on the mixing layer flow was delineated.
