Now more and more television programs are equipped with subtitles. Subtitles are not only equipped to help people with disabilities and the elderly to make up for the inconvenience of hearing, but also to help everyone clearly and easily understand the program. The French government enacted a “equal opportunity” law in 2005, which requires that all television programs be fully captioned by 2010. However, with the increasing amount of information and the faster pace of rhythm, traditional subtitle production methods are experiencing unprecedented challenges because of their inefficiency and high cost. Nowadays, IBM applies its advanced speech recognition technology to the media industry to develop Protitle Live, an innovative subtitle production solution developed by IBM and its partner NinSight. The solution has now been successfully applied to the news and debate program of the French television station (TF1) and has become the core technology in the technical architecture of the French television channel. TELETOTA, a subsidiary of the é clair group, is responsible for providing live broadcasts of French television daily from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm
