Whether it is “ancient - present” or “medium - foreign” academic translation, is undoubtedly one of the transformation of China’s core project. However, in this process, issues such as obscuring and confusing the concepts that are inevitable due to the concept application have not yet received sufficient attention. Take the ancient and modern translation of the term “feudal” as an example to the issue of translating between Chinese and foreign countries. On the one hand, although it has obviously different meanings in ancient and modern Chinese contexts, it is necessary to distinguish contexts from corresponding meanings respectively. However, The meaning of use is up to the normative meaning of the legal level; on the other hand, although the term “feudal” is used for at least three semantics, the English word “feudalism” has its own western cultural background and often has its own Specific meaning, and this specific meaning and any one of the current Chinese context “feudal ” can not form a more rigorous correspondence. However, the current practice is to translate the two words almost without explanation. Serious academic translation of the attitude must be back to the terminology or concept of cultural reference, the level of social life.
