随着数字城市、平安城市，数字奥运、平安奥运，数字世博与平安世博的概念相继提出，究其本质而言，应该落实到建筑物与人，这两个具体的基础上，也就是智能建筑与安防。这两者有从属关系，关系紧密，相辅相成；又有独立关系，自成一体，目前在不同领域都有新技术的应用，而监控新技术在安防系统中独占鳌头。
