一九九一年八月在辽宁、丹东、鸭绿江边度暑。丹东是个满族的聚居区,据一九九○年人口普查,丹东地区满族人口超过一百万人,占全地区总人口的百分之四十以上,已有三个县,岫岩、凤城、宽甸建立了满族自治地方。我抽出几天时间访问了附近的满族农村。在访问过程中我回忆起半个多世纪前,我在清华大学研究生院读书时曾读过当时的老师史禄国教授在二十年代写的《满族 In August 1991 in Liaoning, Dandong, Yalu River summer. According to the 1990 census, the population of Manchu in Dandong is more than one million, accounting for more than 40% of the total population in the region. There are three counties, Xiuyan, Fengcheng, Kuandian established Manchu autonomous areas. I took a few days to visit the nearby Manchurian countryside. During the visit, I recalled that more than half a century ago, when I was studying at the Graduate School of Tsinghua University, I read the words of Professor Shi Luguo,
