Based on the overall difference of real GDP per capita of 21 prefecture-level cities between 2000 and 2007 and the agglomeration degree of 38 two-digit industry in each prefecture, we find that the actual per-capita GDP gap between cities in 2005 and the present year is decreasing While the economic gap in Guangdong Province narrowed, industrial agglomeration in Guangdong Province also showed a clear downward trend around 2005. The research shows that the transfer of industrial space between cities in Guangdong Province is the main reason that causes the regional GDP per capita to narrow. Among them, the high-energy-consuming industries and labor-intensive capital stocks of traditional manufacturing industry transfer is obvious. At the same time, local governments played a positive role in guiding the industrial transfer in the province and optimizing the spatial layout of industries.
