中外矿业史上,最惨痛的一次瓦斯爆炸事故发生在1960年5月9日山西大同老白洞煤矿,有682人罹难。这天13时45分,大地骤然抖动,该矿15号并喷出强烈的火焰和浓烟,威力不亚于13级台风。井口房屋及附属建筑物在瞬间全部被摧垮。随即16号井口也喷出浓烟。幸存者回忆说:“事故发生时,从井口喷出的火焰高达30多米,到了夜间,几十里外都能看到……,大火一直烧了十多天。”
In the history of Chinese and foreign mines, one of the worst gas explosion accidents occurred in Laobai Dong Mine in Datong, Shanxi on May 9, 1960, in which 682 people were killed. At 13:45 of the same day, the earth suddenly jerked, and on the 15th of the mine it spat out a strong flame and smoke that was as powerful as the 13th typhoon. Wellhead houses and ancillary buildings were destroyed in an instant. Then wellhead No. 16 also emit smoke. Survivors recalled: “At the time of the accident, the flame from the wellhead was as high as 30 meters and at night, tens of miles away could be seen ... and the fire had been burning for more than ten days.”
