Objective To investigate whether the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma cells in hypoxia environment is inhibited and whether the activity of intracellular phase II detoxification enzyme NAD (P) H: quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQ0 1) is induced to increase or not, and the relationship between them. Methods Hepatocellular carcinoma SMMC-772 1 cells were seeded in 96-well culture plates and cultured in 5% CO2 incubator for 24 hours. Fresh medium (pre-equilibrated with mixed gas) was placed into hypoxia
