The spring of tourism has finally arrived! After the war in Iraq, the plague of SARS and the new round of international terrorist attacks, the tourism industry has witnessed remarkable changes in the world. The overall recovery of the world tourism industry has far exceeded the expectations of the general public. At the same time, people are more ambitious and optimistic about the prospect of the tourism situation. Shangri-La Group took the lead in announcing that it will raise the average price of its Asian hotels in 2004. The Howard Group frankly will further expand its hotel takeover business in mainland China. The MSAR government has decided to expedite the approval of the hotel expansion project. The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization forecasts: The world tourism industry in 2003 will not be operating below the 2002 level and is expected to exceed the 2002 level. The rest of China’s tourism industry is no exception. In less than a month after the World Health Organization announced that it would “ban the two lifts” in Beijing, there was a bout of craze in the catering service industry. In less than two months after the “double lifting of the ban,” outbound travel and domestic travel basically reverted to the same period of last year Level. As a result, the revitalized convention and exhibition economy is bound to push China’s tourism industry to a new height. “Better late than never,” the English idiom to describe the current world travel situation can be described as appropriate. However, when we are fortunate that the tourism industry has finally arrived in the spring, do we think of “the spring will be the summer back”? Golden Week approaching, we are fully prepared for the hot summer tourism? Industry exposed the problems will be repeated in the hotel industry in China? Hope that the next issue of “Hotel Modernization” available, we can answer the above questions
